The Monroe Oregon Planning Commission which is led by Fred Cuthbertson and operates with integrity and a community-focused vision is a pillar of our citys growth and development. This committed group of locals and government representatives works hard to direct land use and urban planning practices in Monroe making sure that every choice represents the goals and values of our people. The commission led by Mayor Sheets is dedicated to open and inclusive procedures and welcomes feedback from all interested parties in order to develop a common future vision for Monroe.
They carefully consider long-term planning strategies zoning laws and development proposals striking a balance between development and the preservation of our citys distinctive history and character. The Planning Commission is essential to improving the livability and economic vibrancy of Monroe because it promotes cooperation and places a high value on sustainable development. With their help our city will keep growing and be a prosperous safe and appealing place for all of its citizens. The Monroe Planning Commission is made up of seven citizen volunteers and generally serve four-year terms.
The Planning Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, as needed, in the City Hall Council Chambers, 664 Commercial St., Monroe, OR 97456.
The City Council meets at least once each month to review and determine major policy decisions. The decisions they make directly affect City improvements and the quality of life for Monroe citizens.
The Councilors and Mayor pride themselves on being accessible to Monroe residents. At each regular Council meeting, citizens are given the opportunity to express their views to the Council. Since the Councilors are elected city-wide, each member represents all Monroe citizens.
